The celebration starts out with Mountain Day Olympics on the first Friday of the month of October. Dorms compete against each other in "field day" type activities. The entrance of each dorm is always highly anticipated. Pilgrim and Friendship (the WinShape dorms) have teamed together for incredible entrances in the past including boats, horses, hummers and ambushing from every direction. It's always a lot of fun and a great way to bring the whole campus together. The day ends with a talent show competition.
For the celebration on Saturday, there is a Grand March and a huge picnic. Underclassmen girls wear pink, underclassmen guys wear blue. Senior girls wear blue and senior guys wear white. For the march the students line up by class single file and end up in rows of 16. They also donate pennies to go towards a scholarship fund- one penny for every year of age. The celebration lasts all day and all night with the newest tradition- Marthapalooza. Marthapalooza is a one night carnival held on campus for the students, staff, faculty, families and community.
