Day 90::August 5, 2010

Well, tomorrow is the big day!  Doug and I are celebrating our five month anniversary tomorrow by taking 60 crazy students up to Springville, AL for our annual Back to School Retreat.  The past week has been spent cramming, planning, spending, organizing and wrapping up last minute details.  This is going to be one great trip.  It's amazing how busy I am without having a full time job.  I have to admit, I have been so grateful to not be working full time this summer.  I feel like I wouldn't have been able to do all that I've done around the house and with the church.  Even though people give me a hard time about not being employed, I know that Doug and I have made the right decision.  Now that summer is coming to a close and our calendars are more free, I declare that it is officially job hunting season!  So if you know anyone hiring, let me know!

This is a picture of the Golden Oar (which I purchased and painted this afternoon).  It will be presented to the group at the retreat who wins the Build-a-Boat competition!  Good luck everyone!

I did some babysitting today and couldn't not capture these adorable smiles.  Tom and Jerry did this to them, can you believe how cute they are?

Day 88::August 3, 2010

I had an extra special day today.  Today my brother and I drove home to have dinner with our parents, grandparents and my dad's sister's family.  On the way, David and I had some great conversation.  It isn't every day I get to see him so it was nice to catch up.  There were lots of laughs, as always, good food and a ton of pictures.  We even had our own version of Yogurt Mountain.  Okay, only three toppings BUT STILL!  :)

Is it really August?  I can't believe it!  This summer has gone by SO fast, but that's probably because it's been incredibly fun, not to mention, busy.  It was Promotion Sunday and we had a great turnout.  I know we're both excited about the upcoming year and what the Lord has in store for our church and the youth.

Day 85::July 31, 2010

Tomorrow will be so much fun!  I spent the morning blowing up balloons, decorating the church, cutting streamers and helping Doug come up with games for Promotion Sunday.  We are so excited about our new crew. 

Doug and I also spent time to go on a date tonight.  It was nice, even though we didn't get dressed up or anything.  Sometimes it's nice just to step away from life and actually have a real, meaningful conversation and just spend time with the you love most. 

Day 84::July 30, 2010

Today was spent mostly getting ready for Sunday and the upcoming retreat.  It's promotion Sunday this week which means we get a whole new bunch of awesome 6th graders!  When I was in the youth group, I remember this being one of the most exciting days of the year.  The older kids always made the younger ones feel welcome so I wanted to carry on that tradition here at Enon.  

Doug's parents also left town for the weekend which meant that we got to keep Delia's sister, Patty for the weekend.  I couldn't resist taking a picture of them playing together.  They are best friends!
